Dear Friends,
This newsletter is dedicated to the
people who assist RSVP in operating on a daily basis – the staff,
volunteers and generous donors of this agency. Without all these
wonderful people, Suffolk County would be a far less hospitable place to
live. As the economic forecast for Long Island continues to get more
and more overcast, volunteers remain the light in the gloom settling
over not-for-profits. When the “R” word strikes, it unfortunately never
bodes well for human service organizations. As the downturn in funding
comes, these worthy agencies, schools and assistance alliances will
continue to deliver the essential services that benefit the families and
seniors of our communities - only with the help of volunteers.
On the following pages, you will
see and read about those who have financially supported RSVP as well as
the faces of this agency’s prized staff, with some of the volunteers who
assist at our Smithtown office, with kudos and gratitude to our
volunteers in the Westhampton and East Hampton offices. We could never
begin to print a photo of each person who makes a difference, but you
are, of course, included in the hundreds of unsung heroes from RSVP who
every day lend a hand to their fellow neighbors through civic activity.
As the cost of fuel rises along
with the thermometer, and perhaps our blood pressure during this energy
crisis, remember to take some time to sit in the shade of a tree and
watch some clouds float by, because eventually all clouds lift and
“this too shall pass!”
Enjoy your summer!
