SUMMER 2017

Thoughts From the Executive Director

Hi RSVP Volunteers,

Hope everyone is well and FINALLY enjoying this warm Long Island weather. I couldn’t believe that I wore a turtleneck to a rainy Memorial Day parade!

In this issue of our Newsletter, you will see results of the random survey sent to approximately one-third of our active RSVP volunteers. Thanks so much to the 51% of those volunteers who felt it important enough to respond to us in the self-addressed envelope we provided.

In early June, I attended a conference in Baltimore by the Corporation for National and Community Service, our federal funders. CNCS is slated to be deleted from President Trump’s budget in 2018, so we will be watching closely to different drafts of the budget that are introduced to see if Senior Corps projects such as RSVP, Foster Grandparents and Senior Companions survive! I will keep you posted. In the meantime, we can do what we do best – give back to the community with our energy and enthusiasm.

All of us at RSVP will be looking forward to seeing you on Tribute Day in September. We’re very excited about our new venue, the Stonebridge Country Club in Smithtown. Please make sure your hours are submitted in order to receive an invite.

Enjoy the summer! Stay hydrated and smiling!

Best,
Pegi Orsino
Executive Director
