Dear RSVP Friends,

It's hard to believe as I write this and the temperature hovers in the 90's, that in six short weeks, the school buses will roll and the leaves will begin to change!

I wanted to congratulate Bob Casey for his recent award from Suffolk County Office For the Aging as "Senior Citizen of the Year." Bob, having taken summer vacation, will soon be back doing his exercise programs at Gordon Heights Nutrition Center in Coram and Community Programs in Port Jefferson. Perhaps some of you were away and are going to get back into the volunteer routine again. Still the economy lags, and the not-for-profits that you assist really need your help. So, as always, I ask that if you have any spare “free” time, please give it to your volunteer station – your time equates to thousands of dollars in manpower which helps our communities to stay on track during this recession.

I'm looking forward to seeing many of you at the 40 th Anniversary Tribute Day Luncheon on September 10 th. Great music, great exhibitors of senior services, good food, wonderful raffles and special friends – what's not to look forward too? It also gives me, the Board of Directors and the RSVP staff an opportunity to pay tribute to you who do such a wonderful job out in the community.

Forty years of service! In 1972, when RSVP Suffolk was started as a small project of seniors, no one had any idea of the premier senior organization hosting over 900 adults this RSVP project would grow to be.

Congratulations! Happy Anniversary! All of you volunteers made that happen!

Regards,

Pegi Orsino
Executive Director
