SUMMER 2022

Maryflorence Brennan

Dear RSVP Volunteer,

It is with sincere gratitude that I write to you today. Because of each of you, RSVP Suffolk has found its way through the pandemic and is poised for greatness! You have continued to find ways to serve our communities and care for so many people during these unpredictable and difficult times, and you have set the stage for yourself, and our over 600 RSVP volunteers, to return to your grateful partnering stations.

As RSVP begins its 50th year serving the people of Suffolk County, the importance of your service cannot be overstated. You have made it possible for RSVP to touch the lives of thousands of people and their families in our community each and every month.

  • You comfort the aging, mentor students, teach, counsel and care for our veterans.
  • You volunteer in RSVP’s Telephone Reassurance Program, Community Computer Connections Program, Health Insurance Information Counseling Assistance Program, Chronic Disease Self-Management Program and Speaker’s Bureau, providing care, kindness and support to so many in need.
  • You work hard, through training and education, to provide the very best volunteer support to your partnering organizations and programs.

With this being said, it is with a very heavy heart that I must tell you that RSVP will not be holding its Annual Tribute Day Gala this year. I sincerely hoped to celebrate RSVP’s 50th Anniversary with each and every one of you; but as the spring approached and the new variant arrived, I made the difficult decision to postpone our in-person event one more year! We will miss celebrating with all of you, but are encouraged by the progress we have made working with each of you and our partners to have a safe return to your stations. Though Tribute Day has been cancelled, we absolutely will be honoring your service and are preparing a special gift which you will be receiving in the fall.

Thank you to all of those who responded to our survey. I personally read all of your comments. In doing so, I realize how committed and sincere each of you are to your volunteer service.

And, in closing, may I please take this time to reach out to each and every one of you and ask that you share RSVP’s message with your friends, family and anyone who will listen! It is so important in order for RSVP to grow and remain a viable resource for the residents of Suffolk County. I am available to speak at your local clubs, knitting and art groups, as well as your complexes and town meetings.

I hope you all like our new logo, and we have prepared some terrific new flyers which we would be happy to send to you to share with your doctor offices, local businesses and bulletin boards.

Thank you for all your service and support. You are truly amazing, and all of us at RSVP are so proud to work with you.

Sincerely,

Maryflorence Brennan
