Volunteers are the lifeblood of the guide and service dog programs. Their unwavering dedication and generosity drive the success of the Guide Dog Foundation. Within the Guide Dog Foundation volunteer community, there are so many ways to get involved: Puppy Raising, Puppy Camp, Temp Home. Breeding Volunteer, Taxi Team, Sewing Club (the puppies need crate mats) and Office Volunteer are just a few of the ways to help.
Shinnecock Indian Nation’s Finance Department is looking for volunteers to do Data Entry, Filing, Sorting and Assisting with additional Office Duties. The mission of the Department of Finance is to promote financial accountability and accurate reporting, while ensuring the proper use of Tribal resources and safeguarding the Tribal assets, utilizing a broad-based reflective approach to support programs in serving the community and Tribal membership.
Long Island Coalition For the Homeless in Amityville is looking for volunteers to help in their “Boutique” which gives people the opportunity to come and pick out clothes and essential items at no cost. The Boutique is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10 am to 3 pm.
Family Service League is in need of volunteers to help with administrative support as well as transporting food and toy drive goods, helping with special events and tutoring. The immediate need is for clerical volunteers to help with their Senior Net program in Huntington.
Rise Life Services in Riverhead is looking for volunteers on Wednesdays to help at their RISE Food Pantry. Tasks available are sorting the food delivered by the Island Harvest truck, stock inventory and help with the food distribution. The pantry is open every Wednesday from 9 am to 1 pm.
